CLASS:  "Lyrical Ladies: 75 years of Women in American Music 1950-2025"

This class highlights and celebrates women and their musical contributions from the last half of the 20th century until the present. The classes focus on the dramatic impact these women have had on American culture, including the lyrics that have chronicled our experiences, their bold performances and the way women are perceived. These women helped to shape fashion, language and many other aspects of life in the United States. They span every genre and this course includes Rock and Roll, R and B,  Rock, Jazz, Country and Blues (and even more).  Just a FEW of the women discussed will be Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Dolly Parton, The three J's — Joan, Judy, and Joni, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Aretha, Janis Joplin, Christine McVie,  Annie Lennox, Whitney Houston, Sheryl Crow and more!

DATES:  May 13, 20, 27 and  June 3, 2025

TIME:  10a-12N

DAY:  Tuesdays

Fee:  $50.00 for 4 classes

Lyrical Ladies Summer Series

This series of classes focuses on 3 specific women per week. There will be 8 scheduled classes starting June 10, 2025. 

This is a list of the classes and the women who will be highlighted;

 

Old School Country:  Kitty, Minnie and Dale

Belting Out the Music: Barbra, Bonnie and Bette

Calm and Cool and Keyboards: Carly and Carole and Karen

Early and Earthy: Ethel, Etta and Ella

R & B Divas: Diana, Dionne and Donna

Colorful Souls with Soul:  Aretha, Annie and Whitney

Just a Girl in a Band:  Chrissie, Grace and Stevie

Love with a CAPITAL "L":  Loretta, Linda and lang (k.d., of course!)

Class Fee: $100 for all eight classes
